In 1970’s Joe Hocher, then owner of The Staniel Cay Yacht Club Stanielcay needed a solution for fresh water supply to support the needs of the marina, restaurant, and small hotel. Having utilized and experimented with the available reverse osmosis systems in the market at the time, he realized their shortcomings and was inspired to build his own. Together with his small team of engineers, they developed the highest quality, most service friendly, and reliable systems in the marketplace. Watermakers, Inc. was officially established in 1984. Based in Fort Lauderdale FL, the yachting capital of the world and the home for marine enthusiasts, Watermakers, Inc. has continued to set the industry standard while maintaining much of our original component design. Our Reverse Osmosis systems are the most intuitively engineered systems available and are manufactured to be the simplest, most durable and user-friendly design out there. As a pilot, Joe’s vast knowledge of the geography and waters of the Bahamas provided access to the remote islands allowing Watermakers, Inc. the ability to serve the many out islands in the Bahamas. We now provide fresh water solutions to marine and land-based systems such as boats, yachts, hotels, marinas and many other businesses in the commercial shipping, fishing, oil rig and construction both in the Bahamas and worldwide.

The current line of standard desalination watermaker systems ranges from 200 gallons per day (GPD) to 100,000 GPD. Our designs are derived from over 40 years of field experience and in fact, our original component design was the first of its kind and still represents the industry standard as the simplest, most rugged, user-friendly design available.
